6/13, 1-4 PM: Lt. Col. Michael Whetstone, USA (Ret.), author of the just-published military history Madness in Mogadishu, joins the "Hampton Roads Local Authors Showcase" panel to discuss the authors' publishing experiences at the Peninsula Town Center Barnes & Noble, 5100 Kilgore Ave, Hampton, VA 23666. Book signing follows the discussion.

6/14, 2-7 PM: Book signing during The Rural Brewer Festival at the Hawthorne Hophouse, 4111 SE Hawthorne Blvd, Portland, OR 97214. Celebrate 15 beers from Oregon's most remote breweries during this all-ages event, which includes an acoustic jug band, country-fashioned bbq eats, a kids' zone, and a benefit for the Oregon Environmental Council.

6/24, 5-8 PM: Book signing at Laurelwood Brewing, 5115 NE Sandy Blvd, Portland, OR 97213


6/16, 7 PM: Join David Paul Williams, author of Fly Fishing for Western Smallmouth, at the June meeting of the Clackamas (Oregon) Fly Fishers, for a presentation on western smallmouth. The public is welcome and autographed copies will be available from the author.


6/20, 10 AM: Join Steve Kantner, author of Ultimate Guide to Fishing South Florida on Foot, for a day-long seminar based on his recent book, along with casting instruction and a book signing. Bass Pro Shops, 200 Gulf Stream Way, Dania, FL 33004. Look for demos throughout the day!

7/8, 7 PM: Historian and author James Zobel, Chief Archivist at the MacArthur Memorial, will discuss his new book, MacArthur, a military biography of Norfolk's own general, Douglas MacArthur. A booksigning will follow the program at MacArthur Memorial Visitors Center Theatre, 198 Bank Street Norfolk, VA 23510.


7/29, 5:30 PM: Enjoy a Summer Literary Picnic with paranormal expert James Willis, author of Big Book of Ohio Ghost Stories, as he reads from his published works and gives a chilling presentation.
