"No tier of that period was as creative in designing patterns or tied better quality, more lifelike streamers than Mrs. Stevens. this biography has been carefully researched and beautifully written." --Keith Fulsher, master fly tier, originator of the Thunder Creek series

Carrie Stevens (1882-1970) of Upper Dam, Maine, created some of the most beautiful and enduring streamer patterns ever, including the legendary Gray Ghost, which she designed to catch the giant brook trout and landlocked salmon of the Rangeley Lakes. This long-awaited book is both a history of the woman and the region, as well as a guide to the Stevens method. It includes color plates of original patterns, some only recently discovered, along with a biography illustrated with archival photos. The tying section lists dressings for more than 100 streamers, 65 of which have never been published.
